When entering a gaming room, it is always polite to whisper to the GM ''''first'''' to make sure there is not a game in progress.
There exist points in any game where you wish to discuss things with a specific person, and not the rest of the room. Of course, there will also be times where others would like to do the same. Because of this small need, OpenRPG developed a concept called whsipering. Whispering allows you to communicate through the same chat window with another person in the room without anyone else seeing the dialog.
Because in many games whispering occurs often, OpenRPG has made it a very simple task to perform. Simply type "/w" followed by the user's ID number you wish to whisper to. Then add an equals sign followed by the message you wish to send.
A very simple whisper would look something like this:
/w 4=Hello ID number 4.
Because many RPGs allow the players to form group affiliations or split the party for some task, whispers can accept multiple user IDs. Create your message just like above except instead of adding one user ID, add as many as you want seperated by commas.
A grouped whisper would look something like this: /w 3, 4, 12=Hey, I dare you to poke that treasure chest!
/w without the id and equal sign will whisper to the last person you whispered too
Of course, if you don't want to type out the ID numbers, you can always right click and select "Whisper" from the Player List menu. You can gropu people in a whisper group by using "Toggle Whisper Group" in the same menu. Whisper to your group by selecting "Whisper to Group".
