OpenRPG User Guide: Roles

OpenRPG uses a role system where when you join a room you are assigned a role.

The GM of a room can change your role through the "/role" command or the Player List menu. When entering the server the first time your role in the lobby will be "GM". When joining the lobby from another room you are automatically assigned the role of "Player". In a game room you can have one of three roles: Lurker, Player, or GM.

A Lurker cannot talk when room moderation is turned on nor can he change any of the map options. This role is basically a watch mode for a game, and is the default role when first joining a game room. A Lurker will appear a light gray color in your Player List.

A Player is the main role for users in a game. The player is allowed some functions (such as loading miniatures and using the whiteboard), and can post to the chat buffer normally when room moderation is turned on. A Player will appear black in your Player List.

The GM (Game Master) role is assigned to the person who makes the room by default. The is the administrator of his room. His permissions include everything. A GM who does not know the room's password will not be able to use the boot, moderation, or role functions (as well as any other functions requiring this password). A GM will appear red in your player list.
