OpenRPG User Guide: The Player List

Location:

The player list is found in the bottom left of the interface as you run the software.

The Basics:

The player list is designed to show you valuable information in a condensed format. As you can see on the [User Interface] the player list includes 3 key pieces of information: the player's ID, the player's handle, and the player's status.

The player ID is used for many of the advanced commands in OpenRPG from whispering to booting. The number is unique and is assigned by the server once a player logs on. An Id number is required because names aren't restricted to just one person. You could conceivably have 3 people using the name GM on a server. This is good to remember since you may not be talking to the same person that was called Joe that you talked to previously using the same name Joe.

The player's handle is also called his name or screen name. When you initially log onto OpenRPG this will be set to "No Name" as a default. To change your name simply use the chat command "/name [name]" replacing [name] with your desired handle or through the setting's menu. Please remember that choosing a name that is not already in use helps everyone uniquely identify you. Many players use an Out Of Character (OOC) name as well as several In Character (IC) names. Finally, your name will support HTML code as it is a message line sent to the chat buffer.

The player's status becomes very important in game. All players have a status for when they are idle and another status for when they are typing. These help others know when you are going to act in game as well as if you have become occupied away from your keyboard. These can be changed through the settings menu as well as through the chat command "/status".

Advancing Beyond the Basics:

The true power lies within the player menu. This menu contains all of the user specific functions that you can utilize in OpenRPG. A majority of the functions require the administrator password (otherwise known as the boot password) in order for you to activate them.

By highlighting a user and right clicking your mouse, you can select a series of options to apply to that user. Below is a menu list and descriptions:
